Tower Road

I missed the best part of the day, but i scored a short sesh around 5pm friday

I hooked up with my friend JR, who was ripping on his new 120 fsw ltd
and he's getting closer with his gybes. Keep that weight evenly distributed on both feet JR. That will help you continue to carve thru the arc of the turn
a bit crowded, but......
...it was fun

April Noreaster---Are You Kidding Me!

yeah, the storm surprised me with both its intensity and tenacity
I was LIT on my 4.7 Loft Lip Wave and 90 RRD Twin. Once again, I'd left the proper kit in the shop
just wasn't expecting it to be this good
but hey, I made it work
so stoked to have my most awesome wife Janis Markopoulos behind the Nikon lens today
best thing is when it gets real breezy like this, we get conditions like this all to ourselves- with no strings attached ;)
Port is my jumpin side
shorebreak
It was raining pretty hard at this point, so i came in to get my goggles

for this sequence, the rain had pretty much cleared out, and it was just plain windy, blowing perhaps 35

Despite being so lit on the 4.7, I added a smidge more downhaul, and started to get comfortable
stormy again

gonna be tough to sleep tonight for sure

More wind in the forecast for the next few days... stoked.

Assateague.... Again

Assateague was even better on Monday.  At times well powered 5.7 conditions on the 101, will soft waves a smidge nicer than this past weekend. Niko was my partner in crime, and largely responsible for my playing hooky, and scoring another absolutely fabulous day on Delmarva.
There are some better pictures, but haven’t had the time to review them yet. Will post them up if worthy later, so check back.

Niko, I had blast sailing with you. Let’s do it again real soon.

Sup Surfing/Sailing Assateague

Was glorious Sunday. Ken Kellar and I started with a paddle
until the side off wind filled in and we rigged 5.7s and proceeded to have an absolute blast!
these pics don't do justice to just how fabulous the conditions were. We were hooting an hollering, and just
having about the best day of the year so far. Ahhhhhhh

The Quest

My friend Ken Kellar was in Hatteras last week, and it was my sense he was scoring fairly solid conditions. Friday in particular appeared to be strong, albeit heavy ocean conditions. So I asked, rhetorically, are you scoring today? His reply on Monday:

Yes, but not like you'd think. I couldn't find any locals and the south side was small surf and raging offshore wind (45 degrees or more offshore. Lighthouse had big long peeling sets and side shore but no one there. I finally hooked up with Bill Bell who has sailed in the ocean only twice all year and was not inclined to do the ocean In 3.8 conditions. So I met him at "transformers" where you Dave and I did a reef run in 2004 or 2005. Took 3.8 and my 83 liter out to the reef. It was pretty wild and rough. Side on "surf" sailing with lots of jumps and backside cutbacks. Bill attempted a nice high backloop and did a cool endo type forward from pretty high up.
Later around sunset I went to the hole on 4.6 and sailed with Andy and Dale. Beautiful clear sky sunset while on the water. I tried about 4 or 5 fwd loops with no pain and no gear breakage! I was so relieved to break the mental-ice and keep the loop quest going. I'm ready to end the damn quest though!

Nice!

Shop Downwinder-Delmarva Board Sports

Happy Easter everyone, After church sunday, i sailed and did a recon of Little Assawomen Bay. I launched at Fenwick Island State Park, and did a downwinder of about 3 mile to the shop.
little squirrely at first, but filled in nicely out in middle. Was blowing WNW
clean fetch in the lower bay, and I was lit
in thru the ditch was totally doable
unrigging in front of the shop at Delmarva Board Sports was a moment I'll not forget.
stoked beyond measure.....
